Cable management for a clearer workspace

Organize existing device cables so equipment is easier to identify and maintain.

Identify before disconnecting

Photograph the current connections and label both ends by device or destination. Coordinate any interruption before unplugging shared equipment.

Route with care

Keep cables away from walkways, sharp edges and moving parts. Leave ventilation openings clear and enough slack for normal movement without pulling on connectors. Follow the equipment and cable manufacturer’s bend-radius guidance.

Bundle without crushing

Use suitable reusable straps loosely enough to avoid compressing cables. Keep connections accessible and separate groups by destination. Avoid hiding adapters where they cannot ventilate.

Check and document

Reconnect and verify each device, update the labels and keep a simple connection record. This guide covers organizing existing device leads, not electrical work or new building cabling.
